Book turned into a movie and completely desecrated…
I’ve had a hard time trying to think of a book to movie adaptation that I thought wasn’t great. I asked on Twitter and looked at “worst adaptations” lists to see if any of it jogged my memory. In fairness, we rarely watch movies in our house anymore so I was drawing a blank!
So with that, my selection is The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.
I loved this book when I read it. It was full of mystery, and twists and turns. It also gave me the ability to recognise the Fibonacci Sequence, which is a skill in itself and anyone who knows me knows Maths and numbers are not my thing!!!!! π
The movie, on the other hand, was ridiculous. Tom Hanks was not a great choice to play Langdon, and don’t even get me started on Audrey Tatou. I just found the movie intensely irritating. What I loved about the book, was missing for me in the film.
That being said, I did like Paul Bettany’s portrayal of the character. That was pretty much it though.
I guess I’m limited with what I can choose, as I don’t read the classics so I can’t comment on Emma, Pride And Predjudice el al!
What would your choice for worst adaptation be?!
