30 Day Challenge- Day 29

A book you hated…

How long have you got?? πŸ˜‚

I could be here a while if I was to name them all so I’m just going to name one! Or two actually! Two! πŸ˜‰

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Just hated this book. The story, the writing style, the characters, basically everything!

Watched the movie this year and thought it was terrible too.

I’m sure people will say they loved GG, in fact, I know a few who did like the book but alas, I did not.

Up next, special mention goes to:

The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins

I bought this, hyped as it was, expecting great things! I was so disappointed! The twist wasn’t exactly shocking, and I just couldn’t like any of the characters in the book.

I’m not surprised to hear this being adapted for a movie, but I can’t see myself going to see it! Might watch it when it comes out on Sky Movies and even then, meh!

What books have you hated?? 😊

  1. Hi. Just found your blog on the Rick O’Shea bookclub, I think. I am in complete agreement with you on those books. I couldn’t understand the praise heaped on them. One book that I didn’t like was The Trouble With The Harry Quebert Affair by Joel Dicker. If you read the reviews on the book cover you’ll think you’re going to read the best book ever written.

That was not the case. So many plot twists at the end, so little time. I could spend ages badmouthing it..

    1. Thanks Lorraine! It’s always hard to know with these talked about books! I think you either love them or hate them! I’m usually the latter! πŸ™‚ funnily enough I have Harry Quebert on my shelves, with with over 400 books on my TBR, who knows when I’ll read it!

  2. I really enjoyed Gone Girl but Found The Girl on the Train a chore to read. It has had brilliant reviews and dominated the bestseller lists this year and maybe I’m missing something but I didn’t love it.
