I’d been seeing The Teacher popping up on social media for quite a while before I got my hands on a copy. Lots of fellow bloggers had been raving about it so needless to say I was looking forward to getting into it! My thanks to Helena Sheffield and Netgalley for my ARC.
About the book (via Goodreads):
You think you know who to trust? You think you know the difference between good and evil?
You’re wrong …
A LESSON YOU WILL NEVER FORGET
The body of the head teacher of an exclusive Devon school is found hanging from the rafters in the assembly hall.
Hours earlier he’d received a package, and only he could understand the silent message it conveyed. It meant the end.
As Exeter suffers a rising count of gruesome deaths, troubled DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles must solve the case and make their city safe again.
But as they’re drawn into a network of corruption, lies and exploitation, every step brings them closer to grim secrets hidden at the heart of their community.
And once they learn what’s motivating this killer, will they truly want to stop him?
SMART. GRIPPING. GRUESOME.
This is a psychological crime thriller in a class of its own.
My thoughts:
I have to put a disclaimer in here first! I had been in a reading slump for almost two weeks (more of that HERE) so I had no idea how it was going to go when I picked up The Teacher! I need not have worried. Once I started, I knew it was going to keep me reading.
The Teacher is billed as “not for the faint hearted”. To a certain point, I can agree with that as there are many scenes that people of a sensitive disposition may not be comfortable reading. However, I read so many crime and thriller novels that, in a way, I’ve become desensitised to violent scenes and it takes a lot for the words on a page to make me feel in any way squeamish or uncomfortable.
That being said, I wouldn’t let that tag line put anybody off. The Teacher is a really great twisty thriller that keeps you guessing!
I really enjoyed The Teacher. It’s chapters are titled and go between all the various characters. The characters were well written, and each point of view really added to the story as you get everyone’s background during the course of the book.
I think the plot of The Teacher was really well thought out! It’s a great idea for a story. Full of anger and vengeance and the consequences for those involved with plenty of red herrings thrown it!
I throughly enjoyed The Teacher, it’s a very interesting lesson on revenge! I gave The Teacher 4⭐️ on Goodreads! It’s out today and you can order your copy HERE
Happy reading 😊📖
