Have you ever got a book and thought “yeah, this will be a good one!”? I know I have! Many times!
I’m currently reading “The Hanging” by Lotte Hammer, and to be honest, I wish I wasn’t! It is terrible! I’m not a quitter when it comes to books usually, I can count on one hand the amount of books I’ve started to read then given up on, but this book is driving me mad!
Nothing of note has happened, except the aforementioned hanging! I keep waiting for the story to improve but no joy! I hate the thoughts of having to continue reading!
However, I have challenged myself to read 100 books this year, so I feel I cant give up!
Has this ever happened to you???
Goodreads have added a Reading Challenge widget this year and it is awesome!
You set your own reading challenge and log all the books you read. I didn’t do a reading challenge last year, but yet I managed to read 66 books in 2013 (granted, in one week I read 8 books as I was away on holidays for a week!!!) so I decided to up my numbers this year!
I’ve set myself the task of reading 100 books this year, which works out as 1-2 books a week! So far, I’ve read 10 and I’m on my 11th (by my standards and previous reading frenzies, it’s a little slow) book of the year.
Since January, I have read the following:
The Goldfinch – Donna Tartt
Here’s Looking At You – Mhairi McFarlane
The Hardest Part Of Love – Catherine Ryan Hyde
The Wolf Of Wall Street – Jordan Belfort
You Had Me At Hello – Mhairi McFarlane
A Tap On The Window – Linwood Barclay
The Stag and Hen Weekend – Mike Gayle
Bonkers: My Life In Laughs – Jennifer Saunders
Solo: A James Bond Novel – William Boyd
Poppet – Mo Hayder
I’m currently reading The Hanging by Lotte Hammer
Clearly I read diverse books, but my favourite genre is Crime or Psychological thrillers, so any other genres are usually easy to give my brain a break!
I’d highly recommend Poppet! Strange but a very good read if you like thrillers!
So I’ve finally started my own bookish blog! Much as I enjoy others words, I’d like to be able to share the books I love, quotes and some reviews and recommendations along the way!
