Magical Alley Harry Potter Merchandise~ Product Review

Hey guys,

So, today I have something a little different to the usual book reviews. I was recently contacted by Nathan at Magic Alley (www.magicalley.co.uk) , a website specialising in Harry Potter merchandise, to see if I was interested in providing a review of some of their stuff. Well, being a massive fan of HP, there was only one real answer… πŸ™‚

*I received products from Magic Alley in return for an honest review.

Here’s what Nathan has to say about Magic Alley:

My Harry Potter adventure began back in July 2000, when my older brother bought the Goblet of Fire book that had just been published. Within a week I’d finished the Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and was waiting for him to get to the end of the Goblet of Fire so that I could read it. I was hooked!

From that point I’ve been a huge Harry Potter fan throughout my life, reading all of the books and watching all of the films every summer. JK Rowling was able to create an amazing world unlike any other, and just like millions of other fans around the World, it’s one that continues to keep my interest all these years later.

I established Magic Alley in 2015, with the aim of creating an entirely Harry Potter focused store, stocking products and quirky items that aren’t usually found in many other places in the United Kingdom. We have drinks and sweets produced in the United States, wands identical to those sold at the Studio Tour in London, an amazing but affordable jewellery range from another UK retailer, scarves and ties belonging to each of the four Hogwarts Houses and authentically reproduced, and all these among lots of other interesting Harry Potter products.

As well as our web store, our team also regularly attend shows and conventions throughout the UK, which allow us to meet other Harry Potter fans directly and run a mobile retail location that is able to be visited by thousands of visitors in a single weekend.

We have big plans for our future – and while some have to be kept under wraps – we’ll continue adding to our product range and help continue to keep the fascinating world of Harry Potter alive after all these years!

I was lucky enough to be sent a beautiful necklace, and some really cute greeting cards too, which you can see below (I’ve added in my photos as well for comparison):

First off, I’m going to chat about the necklace. I don’t usually wear jewellery, but this was too cute to resist. It’s a beautiful silver chain, and the house crest charm is not too big. The chain is actually really comfortable to wear, so much so that you don’t even know it’s there half the time. I’m usually wary of these chains because they tend to catch my long hair, but I had absolutely no issues with this one at all. It’s also quite a dainty chain too, and its neither too short nor too long. At the risk of sounding like Goldilocks, it is just right!

Next up were these lovely greeting cards. I love the cartoonish-look of these cards. They are really cute, and really well-drawn too. The cards are high-quality, they lasted the journey from the UK without being bent or roughed up in any way. They are also left blank inside, so you can fill in whatever message you want to include! These cards are as solid as any of the greeting cards you would pick up in a shop, but they’re Harry Potter, so infinitely better, haha πŸ™‚ I love them, and would happily order them!

30 Day Challenge- Day 18

A book you wish you could live in…

The wizarding world of Harry Potter! Simples! πŸ™‚

No question! Didn’t even have to think about it! I’ve loved those books since I first read them and I always will.

I’m so jealous of anyone who gets to visit the sets at Leavesden or the actual Wizarding World Of Harry Potter theme park! I’d give my left arm to go and see them.

Books for me are a form of escape and out of all the books I’ve read, the Harry Potter series are the ones who let me escape into a completely different world and let my imagine run riot.

30 Day Book Challenge- Day 3

The longest book I have read…

There are a few books I have read that fall into this category. So I’m going to list my top 5 books in no particular order.

At 771 pages, The Goldfinch was painfully long as I didn’t enjoy the book.

I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes was a pick for book club this year. Again, I didn’t enjoy this book and it was a looooooong 892 pages to read!!!

I read GOT at the beginning of my 2014 Reading Challenge and I haven’t picked up one of Martin’s books since as it slowed my reading down. This book took me 3 weeks and was 835 pages long.

Another ridiculously long book from my 2013 Reading Challenge, Needful Things by Stephen King. 933 pages.

This HP* book has 766 pages. And every one was a pleasure to read! What a surprise! πŸ˜‚

*I promise I won’t keep mentioning Harry Potter in all of these posts πŸ˜‰

What’s the longest book you have read?! πŸ˜ŠπŸ“–

30 Day Book Challenge- Day 2

Favourite Side Character…

I have been racking my brain all day trying to think of my favourite side character. My problem is that I can’t pick just one. There are so many that I enjoyed.

I’m going to have to Top Three it…

In no particular order, the first of my favourites..

Ron Weasley

By far one of my all time favourites, Ron (Won-Won) has some of the wittiest lines in the books. He adds the light comedy when it’s needed the most. It also helps, that Rupert Grint grew up well! πŸ˜‰

Next up, it’s got to be Hermione Granger (sensing a theme here?! πŸ˜„)

One of my all time best quotes from Hermione is, when chastising Harry and Ron, she says “I hope you’re pleased with yourselves. We could have been all killed — or worse, expelled.” It just sums up her bookish attitude  completely! πŸ˜‚

Last, but by no means least, another HP gem.

Molly Weasley

She is just so fierce and loyal to those she loves. Also, THAT duel with Bellatrix Lestrange! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

So there you have it, my favourite side character(s!!!!) πŸ˜‚

Who are yours?!

30 Day Book Challenge: Day 1

A book or series you wish had gone on longer OR a book series you wish would just end already.

There is only one contender for a series I wish had gone on longer…Β

HARRY POTTER BY J. K. ROWLINGΒ

Β

I remember the first time I ever heard of Harry Potter. I was away at Irish college many moons ago, and a girl staying in our room was reading it at the time. I asked could I read the first few pages to see if I’d like it… Needless to say I went home and swiftly started my Harry Potter book collection.

My love for the books grew with every new release, some of which I even queued at midnight for! My teenage years were spent reading HP, and trying to read them as fast as possible on release day, just so nobody would ruin the endings for me!

I was really sad when the series ended. It left a lot of unanswered questions for me! I know we were told “All was well” but seriously JK, I wanted to know everything pre and post HP at Hogwarts!!!

These books take pride of place on my bookshelves, and I’m hoping my kids will decide to read them when they’re old enough!

Thanks for reading πŸ˜ŠπŸ“–
