The Girl With No Past by Kathryn Croft

I’ve had this book on my TBR for a while so once I heard Bookouture were doing Thriller Week I figured I’d add it to my list! This is the 3rd book I’ve read from the 8 thrillers on their Thriller Week post. 2 days to read the other 5! Eeeeeek! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I need to be realistic and admit I won’t get them all read but it’s still a challenge all the same!

Anywho, off on a tangent as usual! Back to matters at hand… The Girl With No Past…

About the book:

Leah Mills lives a life of a fugitive โ€“ kept on the run by one terrible day from her past. It is a lonely life, without a social life or friends until โ€“ longing for a connection โ€“ she meets Julian. For the first time she dares to believe she can live a normal life.

Then, on the fourteenth anniversary of that day, she receives a card. Someone knows the truth about what happened. Someone who wonโ€™t stop until theyโ€™ve destroyed the life Leah has created.
But is Leah all she seems? Or does she deserve everything she gets?
Everyone has secrets. But some are deadly.

My thoughts:ย

I genuinely don’t know where to begin with this review. I essentially read this in one day. I couldn’t put it down and snatched any opportunity to read when I could!

Leah lives a fairly solitary life, living on her own and holding down a job in a library. Her only solace is found online in chat rooms where nobody knows her or what has happened in her life.

Through the chat room, Leah meets Julian. Meeting him gives Leah hope for a new life. Sufficed to say all does not go according to plan (that is not a spoiler!!!) for her.

This book is thrilling and engrossing beyond words. I was hooked from the first few pages. I honestly didn’t want to stop reading once I started!!!

Kathryn Croft has expertly crafted Leah’s story so that it is full of suspense. I had no idea what Leah’s past actually was! I kept thinking I had it figured out and then something else would be said that would throw me off completely.

Essentially, the past was teenage misadventure gone horrifically wrong. In my opinion, it was completely unforseeable until the very time it was explained. I was totally shocked, but I also felt sorry for Leah at having to bear the brunt of everything.

I wholeheartedly loved this book. I am so glad I finally got around to reading it. It was an easy, and well deserved 5 โญ๏ธ rating on Goodreads from me! I’d highly recommend reading it if you haven’t already!!!

Happy reading ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ“–
